Questions and answers

Which kinds of code can I make?
Plain text, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, phone, SMS, email, contact cards, locations, calendar events and files shared from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. Codes for web links are switched off for now and are coming back soon. Payment codes such as UPI are not made.
Is anything sent anywhere when I make a code?
No. Everything stays on your device. Codes for web links are switched off for now. When they come back, each link will be checked against Google Web Risk to help flag suspected unsafe links.
Do the codes I make expire?
No. The code holds your text or link directly, so it does not depend on this site and keeps working even if you never visit again.
Is QR code for a file really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you use it for.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It works in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. A very large file can be slow on an older phone because everything runs on the device.
Is there a file size limit?
We set no limit. The real limit is your device’s memory: if a very large file will not open, try a computer or work in smaller parts.
